"don't lose your head bub, it's the best part of your body."

this quote is what my grandfather used to always say. that and "don't bullshit the bullshitter." I get the second one told to me quite a bit by my family because bs is a talent we've all been fortunate enough to attain.
my grandfather was a great man. though he died when I was three years old, I feel like we were best friends even then. he had a huge heart for strangers and wanted everybody to always be happy. his self-less example was very inspiring.
the christmas season always reminds me of him. his last christmas, I remember baking him rice krispie treats that were green in the shape of christmas trees. this has always been one of my favorite memories and one I used to write a lot about in elementary school. that christmas was special for all of us because we moved his bed into the present room so he could be with everybody while we opened ours. things were slower and cherished because we knew it would be his last. it was one of those bittersweet christmases.
it’s been almost sixteen years but my christmas wish this year would be for him to be back, goofy as ever, dressed in his coneheads outfit and making all of us laugh this year for christmas. when this doesn't happen, i'll be sure to not lose my head about it.
