I used to babysit for these devilish munchkins--charles and walker (left to right). at the time, they were quite sassy and honestly wreaked havoc on my life. they’d throw anything and everything out the car windows, only to demand we turn around and retrieve the item. typically this was necessary because it’d be shoes, book bags, etc that belonged to the other twin. my hair became something to yank on at all times. screaming, they believed, got them whatever they wanted. they’d beat up all my friends and thought it okay to run around the pinecrest parking lot. the list is endless. there were moments when I think I was slightly fearful of what they would do to me, or worse, that I might beat the crap out of them. anytime I told them to do anything, they’d say “blah, blah, blah...your needs.” since I am not, nor have I ever been a strict disciplinarian amongst the children I babysit, I’d laugh when they said this. for some reason I found it quite clever and charming and it quickly became a regular phrase in my vocabulary. why? who knows. but they knew how to win me over and I sure do love those little nuggets.

Hi Christina! I have just discovered your blog today and it is absolutely lovely, but this post is definitely my favorite, as I babysat Gracie, Charles & Walker for a couple of years before I went off to college. It sounds as though I had the boys during their best (behaved) years (7 months - 3-ish)! Thanks for sharing this story- the photograph totally made my day! Best of luck with everything at school this year!
ReplyDeletehahaha, they are so precious, I love them. but yeah, they went through a wild phase for a little bit.
