we had our first weekend of rainy paris weather. up to this point I thought it was strange the way all parisians love and prefer their city in the rain. after spending so much time outside in parks enjoying the city in the sunshine, I thought it had to be some huge misunderstanding. I thought it was a cliche, like owen wilson’s character in midnight in paris. that is, until I lived it.
saturday was one of those days where there was never really a time where the rain stopped. and yet it didn’t inhibit us from having a great day. in fact, I think it was one of my busier saturdays. we toured and wandered and ate and ate and ate and shopped and laughed. we didn’t attempt to dodge the rain because inevitably we were going to get wet, though at one point we took a 2 hour hiatus to enjoy some hot tea. it made the city stand out to me in different ways and made me enjoy how beautiful the city looks, even especially in the rain. I could have rung my toms out by the time we got home, especially when sara’s floor flooded from the shower. but I loved it! here are a few of my favorite parts.
(umbrella tourists)
(flowers in the tuilleries)
(jazz band in front of a crepe stand)
(dim lighting in saint-germain-des-pres)
(afternoon tea and dessert)
